Hello children and other family members in the house. Come and sing and dance with Ms Charlton and learn a groovy version of the traditional song, Tommy Thumb.
I hope you enjoy the song and remember you can watch it lots of times to help you learn the song.
Hello Children, Parents and Carers. Today we are going to use pasta shapes and other things you can collect around the house to help you with counting. When you go for a walk you can also collect other things to use at home to practise your counting skills.
The last two weeks we have focussed on the number 1.
Here is another number song all about the number 1
Click the video below to hear the song and join in.
This week we will be moving on to look at number 2 so don't forget to check the blog everyday and pick up your work packs tomorrow for lots of new activities to do at home.
This morning we are going to have some more fun with play dough!
Today Miss Sykes is doing some counting using the dough.
Click the video below to join in!
We hope you enjoyed the video and joined in with the counting. Remember grown ups, you can make dough with your children and engage them in fun counting activities everyday.
Firstly, we would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of those who came on Tuesday to collect nursery work packs. Well done to you all 👏
Those of you who did collect work packs will know that this week your child was given a bag of play dough. Play dough is such a good resource for young children and can be used to support fine motor development, mathematical skills, language development and much more.
Today we are focussing on fine motor development so grab your bag of dough and get ready to DOUGH DISCO!
Grown ups make sure you are supporting your child by joining in too!
Click on the video below to get started!
We hope you enjoyed that fine motor activity. Don't forget you can repeat it as many times as you like and the more you do the more you will be developing the muscles in your hands and fingers. We need good muscles in our hands and fingers to allow us to be able to draw and write accurately.
Some of you may not have collected packs and not have any dough but don't worry, Mr Ormsby from reception has made this easy, step by step video to help you make your own. This is a fabulous activity to do with young children and supports their understanding of measurement and capacity.

That is your task for this afternoon grown ups and children, go and make some dough and come back tomorrow when Miss Sykes will be demonstrating some counting activities you can do at home using the dough you have made.
Please join Ms Charlton for an alternative version of the traditional 'Goldilocks' story. In this version of story the 3 bears encourage Goldilocks to take on some responsibility. They also cook her a nice healthy meal.
Enjoy listening.
I hope you enjoy the story please remember you can watch it repeatedly.
It is very strange at the moment, with some children in nursery and others at home. I am delighted that you all seem to be keeping busy, working and playing hard and learning lots!
A MASSIVE WELL DONE to all the parents and children who came to nursery on Tuesday afternoon to collect their work packs.
Some children have even sent their work to me.
Well done to Iris who completed her counting and story work and still found time to build this super snowman!
Well done to Arisa who has been busy singing at home, practising writing the letters of her name, doing jigsaws, drawing fabulous pictures like this one of a washing machine and even finding time to take notes for Mum and Dad during their zoom meetings.
We are SUPER PROUD of you all and feel VERY LUCKY to be your teachers.
Grown ups, please don't forget to pick up your work packs from Nursery on Tuesday afternoon (1.30- 3.00)
It would be great if you could bring your child along so they can choose a book from our library and we can say hello.
Maybe you would like to send some pictures of your child's completed work or any other activities they have been doing at home. Remember you can send your pictures to reception@hovingham.org
Hello children please join in with Ms Charlton and learn this new sing all about five teddy bears. You can use your fingers to support you with your counting.
I hope you enjoyed the song and that you watch it lots of times until you have learnt all the words.
We put on our warm suits, wellies, hats and gloves and went out to have lots of fun!
If you went out and built a snowman or have taken any snowy pictures you could send them to our Reception email address so we can share them with everyone at school! We hope you have enjoyed the snow!
Last week Miss Sykes shared one of her favourite stories with you, the story was called
'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'
Today we have an animated version of the story to share with you. Watch the story with your grown up and see if you can answer the questions about the story.
Who was in the story?
What was the biggest bear called?
What was the smallest bear called?
Who else lived in the house?
Which bowl of porridge did Goldilocks like best?
Which chair was her favourite?
What happened to the chair?
Which bed did she like best?
Where did the bears find Goldilocks?
How do you think Goldilocks felt when she saw the bears?
How do you think Mummy and Daddy bear felt?
How do you think Baby Bear felt?
Should you go into strangers houses?
Why not?
We hope you enjoyed this story. Remember you can watch it as many times as you like. Perhaps you could act it out with your toys and some objects from around your house. Your grown ups will be able to help you with this!
